In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re excited to highlight Miriam Olivas, the inspiring owner of Barrio Café in Wahiawa. Since opening its doors in 2017, Barrio Café has become a beloved local spot, bringing the vibrant flavors of Hispanic culture to Oahu.

With Miriam at the helm, Barrio Café offers more than just fresh and flavorful Mexican cuisine – it’s a celebration of tradition and creativity. Every dish pays homage to Hispanic culinary heritage while incorporating locally sourced ingredients that support our island. From eggs from Waialua Farm to goat milk caramel from Sweetland Farms and fresh bread from Signature Sweets in Wahiawa, Barrio Café’s commitment to quality shines through in every bite.

Located at 672 Kilani Avenue, Barrio Café continues the legacy of El Palenque, a cherished Mexican restaurant that served the island for over 28 years. This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re proud to honor Miriam and her team for their dedication to sharing the rich culture of Mexico, one flavorful dish at a time.
